Dentists who care about your whole body health

We help improve your health, starting with your mouth.

The dental and medical professions have been working in isolation for far too long. How did the mouth ever get disconnected from the body anyway? Your teeth have direct access to your bloodstream, which explains why mouth problems can show up in the heart, brain or joints. Our dental team collaborates with physician partners to connect the dots and fill in missing pieces of the puzzle to decrease your risk for systemic disease, thereby increasing your chance for a long, healthy life.

“The staff at Evergreen is very patient centered. They are so attentive to their patients’ concerns and expectations. Most of all, I get the impression that they actually care.

Jennifer Cochran, DDS

Dr. Cochran attended Christian Brothers University, later pursuing a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, graduating in 1999 with high honors.  She established Evergreen Family Dentistry, which became the first certified “green” dental practice in the southeast region. The office space was renovated with eco-friendly materials.  Much thought and innovation produced an environmentally friendly practice in a host of ways, from digital radiography to paperless charts to electronic reminders to recycling programs and biocompatible materials.

Dr. Cochran began to see oral and systemic connections in her own patients, noticing how patients with unhealthy mouths also tended to have chronic illness. She became involved with the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health (AAOSH) and after extensive education became a Fellow in 2019.  She completed the BaleDoneen Method preceptorship course for prevention of heart attacks, strokes and diabetes.  She is a member of the Wellness Dentistry Network, a worldwide platform where innovative physicians and dentists collaborate and learn from each other. Dr. Cochran has also brought this advanced knowledge to local healthcare providers and educators in the dental community. She exceeds her requirements for continuing education and is on the leading edge of prevention of systemic diseases as they relate to oral health.

Dr. Cochran has been recognized in Memphis Magazine as a “Top Dentist” by her peers many times over throughout her career.  She is married to Robert, an engineer, and spends her spare time on the ball field or in the audience cheering on her three children. She loves to travel with her family and cook with vegetables grown in her own garden.

We work with partnering physicians who recognize the importance of oral health in achieving better clinical outcomes. Together, we find a true path to wellness, no matter where our patients are along the cardiometabolic spectrum.
